The pink cliffs of majestic Powell Point are a well know landmarks in the Escalante area. Powell Point can be seen from many points along as far west as Bryce Canyon National Park. Beneath them a soft shale known locally as the "Blues" has been carved into fantastic patterns. Spring and late summer often bring fantastic displays of wildflowers -- like the paintbrush shown here.
